Hot tub electrical requirements.
Updated October 2026 · By the Lone Star Spas team in Texas

Most full-size hot tubs need a dedicated 240V circuit, usually 50 amps, with a GFCI-protected disconnect within sight of the tub and at least 5 feet away from it. 120V plug-in tubs run on a dedicated standard outlet instead.
Power by model
| Model | Power |
|---|---|
| Corpus, Belle | 120V plug-in or 240V |
| Austin, Antonio, Magnolia, Waco, Beaumont, Tyler | 240V / 50A |
| Dallas, Houston, Lubbock, Pasadena, Spring | 240V / 50A |
| Alamo, Rio swim spas | 240V / 60A |
| San Angelo swim spa | Two 240V / 60A |
| Saunas | 120V / 15A or 20A dedicated |
What to ask your electrician
- Is there room in my panel for a 50A or 60A two-pole breaker?
- How far is the run from the panel to the tub location?
- Where will the GFCI disconnect go? It must be in sight of the tub and at least 5 feet away.
- Do you pull the city electrical permit?
When to do it
Book the electrician as soon as you order. We send a model-specific checklist so the circuit is ready on delivery day and we can fill and start the tub the same visit.
